Celebrate Mermay with Davina
Hello crafty friends! May is upon us, and that means “Mermay” is here! Although it may not be a real thing, I’ve loved making as many mermaid themed cards as I can during the month of May, for many years. Fortunately for me, The Greeting Farm has so many gorgeous mermaid sets to choose from, that I could probably make several cards each week and still not use them all.
The slimline card I’m sharing today uses the incredible Mermaids Galore Big Kit, and there 10 mermaids on just this one amazing set. I also love the variety of fish and porpoise that are included.
I started this scene by die cutting and water coloring the background using an underwater scene die. I used my mini distress ink cubes to watercolor all if the background elements including the coral and sea weed. Once it was dry I carefully reassembled the background and adhered it to a heavy weight panel to keep it flat. Next, I stamped and colored the images using copic markers, and cut out using my scan n cut. I added a few white highlights and some glittery Wink of Stella.
I adhered the images using foam tape, but I used an action wobbler for the mermaid riding the turtle. I love the touch of whimsy it adds for the recipient. I finished this off with a sentiment banner that is from the Cheeky Mermaids set, and a sprinkling of sparkly sequins. I hope that you are inspired to makes some “Mermay” themed projects this year.
Thank you for stopping by, Davina
