Cozy Up With A Good Book from Guest Designer Samantha Pfrimmer!

Hello everyone! Samantha here today and I am so very excited to be the Guest Designer for the month of March. I have a young daughter who expects me to make custom birthday cards for her closest friends so today I am sharing a card I made for her bestie using the Book Lover Stamp Set.

I love a good one-layer card, and to start my one-layer I always stamp all of my images first onto masking paper in a light grey ink. For this card, I stamped images from both the Book Lover Stamp Set and the Critter Meet Stamp Set (can be requested for a future Farmers Market) so I could fill out a library scene with lots of critters. Once stamped, I cut all of my masks and then I use the masks to design my layout. I find it easier to see what my final design will look like with the masks versus just moving around the stamps.

Once I determined my layout, I carefully stamped out my scene onto Copic Xpress-It paper, placing my masks down layer by layer. A little secret...this scene took me three attempts. With the first try, I forgot to add a mask and stamped over my critter's face. The second time, I somehow smeared orange ink onto my card panel. The third time was the charm. After all my masks were placed, I stamped out a floor using a room builder stamp set from my stash before masking off the floor and ink blending the walls using Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink.

Now it was time to color. I removed all of the masks and got to work with my Copic markers. I tend to color my critters first while I think through the color palette I want for my books. After my coloring was complete, I stamped my sentiment, cut the completed image with a stitched frame die from my stash, and added a magenta mat before attaching the card to an A2 sized folding card base.

Next up...adding a Barnes and Noble Gift Card and sending my girl off to her book loving bestie's birthday party. I hope you liked my card and thank you for reading!
