With You Every Day Is A Picnic from our Guest Designer Samantha Pfrimmer!
Hello everyone! Samantha here today, Guest Designer for the Month of March. Today is my last post for The Greeting Farm, and I decided to feature the adorable Wonder Anya Stamp Set paired with the Picnic Digi Set. Pairing digis with clear stamps takes a little practice, and for me always includes a little trial and error with copy paper.
I had the idea to use the picnic blanket and the tree from the Picnic digi set, so I first laid out my scene on my tablet and when I was pretty sure I had the sizing right, I printed it out on copy paper. I use the copy paper as a template where I can lay out my stamps to make sure I have the size and arrangement just how I want it. In the case of this card, after one print out, I decided to change from an A2 sized card to a 5.5” x 5.5” square card so I could really show off that amazing tree image.
Once I had my digi background all set, I printed three copies:one on copy paper to use as a mask, one on Copic Xpress-It paper for coloring, and the last one I printed on yellow plaid pattern paper from my stash as I decided I also wanted to do a little paper piecing. Additionally, I stamped all of my character images onto extra Xpress-It paper to be used to finish off my scene.
Now it was time to color. Using my Copics, I colored all of my character images, my tree, and my grassy area. For my patterned paper blanket, I used my Copic Neutral Grays to add shadows to the cloth. Next, I fussy cut all of my images including the pattern paper blanket as close to the black line as I could get. I also cut out my copy paper mask so I could mask off my scene and ink blend the sky usingDistressed Oxide Squeezed Lemonade and Tumbled Glass.
Once everything was colored and cut, all I needed to do was arrange my images and glue everything down. Now I have an “almost” one-layer card featuring a charming tea party picnic.
I hope you liked my card and thank you for reading!
Samantha
